Qualification Obtained: Light Vehicle Inspection

Course Overview

This course is ideal for experienced mechanics with at least 4 years' experience but no formal qualifications.

On successful completion of the course you will be entitled to enrol on the MOT Tester Fastrack.

Course Entry Requirements

The DVSA will check these pre-requisite items when applying for the Certification of Competence (CoC) observation and so it is important you meet the requirements prior to starting the qualification.

To be eligible to undertake the qualification to become an approved MOT tester you must:

  • have a current and full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes you want to test
  • be a skilled mechanic with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested
  • have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
