GCSE in Mathematics A
About this Course:
Gcse mathematics covers a wide range of basic mathematical knowledge and skills, grouped into four areas.
- Number: Fractions, decimals, percentages.
- Algerbra: Equations, formulae, graphs.
- Shape and Space: Geometry, measurement, bearings, area, volume.
- Statistics: Bar charts, pie charts, averages, probability.
While studying Mathematics you will:
- Use mathematical skills and knowledge to solve problems.
- Use logic and reason to solve problems.
- Break down problems into small steps in order to solve them.
- Learn how to use a calculator to solve problems quickly and effectively.
Entry Requirements: (a minimum of)
Either a grade D in Maths or experience of numbers in employment or life.Assessment Methods:
GCSE Maths Is 100% exam assessed.
On part time and adult full time programmes exams are taken at the end of the course, whilst on full time programmes for 16-18 year old learners smaller exams are spaced out through the year.
Progression:
A and B in GCSE Maths would enable you to do A level Maths, whilst a grade C in Maths is essential for more and more areas of employment.
