About this Course:

The Foundation Degree in Interactive Media Development aims to enable graduates to become skilled in the development of interactive digital content, taking advantage of the latest technologies in pursuit of the new career opportunities being presented in this rapidly growing industry.

Throughout your studies you will use a wide range of industry-standard software in order to develop and test interactive products whilst maintaining sound human-computer interactive design practices. You will develop both personal and academic skills through a variety of learning experiences. Additionally, as part of this programme you will undertake a 30 day/100 hour work placement, providing you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills to real-world projects within a work environment.

Assessment Methods:

You will be assessed by two principal means over your course of study; formal time constrained examinations and assignment based coursework. Some modules are assessed by both examination and assignment. Some modules, due to the nature of the subject, will each consist of 100% coursework. Some modules will be assessed through an electronic portfolio.

The assignments are designed to serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they contribute to your overall profile within a module. Secondly, they are intended to help reinforce your understanding of the subject matter by making sure the relevant learning outcomes are covered for a module. Completion of these assignments is seen, therefore, as an important factor in the successful completion of your studies.

The examinations take place at the end of the semester in which you complete the study of a module and test your understanding of the subject matter developed over the preceding weeks.

Progression:

On completion of the course, successful graduates are able to progress to an honours degree in interactive media design. This will involve a further year of full-time study.
