Course Overview

Through this course you will develop basic computer skills and in the first week an Initial Assessment will ensure you are on the correct level of course.

This course will introduce you to a computer and its basic functions, including the use of Microsoft: Word, Excel and Publisher.

You will have individual access to a laptop computer and work under the guidance and support of a qualified and experienced tutor.

Term 1:

In term 1 you will explore the basic programmes which will allow you to use your computer effectively:

  • Word Processing
  • Spread sheets
  • Desktop publishing
  • Internet
  • Email

Term 2:

This term you will extend your knowledge of the above and go into more detail, expanding your knowledge and developing your confidence in using a computer. 

Term 3:

In Term 3, your understanding and skills learnt will be assessed and this will form the basis of the learning for this term to allow you to continue to extend your knowledge and challenge you further.

Course Entry Requirements

Applicants must be aged 19 plus.

Applicant must have some basic ICT knowledge to be able to fully participate.  There is a beginners class for those with no ICT knowledge: GC1EC2011.
