BA Honours in Fine Art and Professional Practice
This new and innovative course is designed to enable Fine Art Students to locate their practice within the ever growing Creative Industries.
We are looking for applicants who are passionately interested in Fine Art and who want to make a career in Fine Art and the Creative Industries. You need to be highly motivated, committed, be able to demonstrate creative ability and be prepared to accept a challenge.
The unique and inspirational regenerated Blackpool context is the setting for this programme. Whilst it is not easy to secure a career in Fine Art, the broad spectrum across the Creative Industries this course covers in the commercial, community and studio professional practice fields, enables you the best possible opportunity to achieve your goals. We believe that your contribution is valuable in helping change contemporary society.
Essential skills we look for include bags of enthusiasm for Fine Art on a practical and theoretical level commitment, creativity, visual awareness and a wish to make a contribution to Fine Art and the ever changing Creative Industries.
All studio practice based modules are assessed at the end of each module by the practical work that is undertaken. Professional Practice and Critical Studies modules are assessed by a combination of essays, reports, presentations and learning journals.
Students on this course may progress to postgraduate and MA Courses in Fine Art, curatorial studies, teaching, artists residences, commercial consultancy, art therapy and public art schemes involving mural and commissioned artworks.
With its emphasis on Professional Practice within Fine Art, this programme places great emphasis on the external industrial placement and recognises the value of such an experience to future career planning. Our College links to Blackpool's ongoing regeneration programme and the Creative Industries across the region provide an invaluable context for aspiring Fine Artists.
This course offers a distinctive sound base for your development and learning experience. A Fine Art culture linking Studio Based Practice, Professional Practice and Contextual Studies, enables the student a degree of flexibility in achieving personal aims. Individual tutorials, assigned personal tutors, peer groups learning, visiting speakers, a range of tutor led workshops in all media help foster a challenging, learning environment for the individual. Students can also expect a very high level of academic and pastoral support, and one to one student tutor interaction.
You will develop Drawing, Painting and Digital Imaging Skills across a broad range of concepts and methodologies. Through Professional Practice and Critical Studies you will develop critical, analytical and interpersonal skills used for presentation, marketing and self promotion.
