About this Course:

This new Foundation Degree has been developed in consultation with leading event, conference and tourism organisations. We aim to provide graduates with the range of skills, knowledge and, above all, experience required for successful careers in this popular and expanding sector.

The Foundation Degree in Events Management is based in the School of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality at the Higher Education Campus of Blackpool & The Fylde College, one of the top colleges in the country and an associate of Lancaster University. It's an exciting time to be in Blackpool, where the town's regeneration is already underway and live events, festivals and conferencing are central to the resort's future. This programme aims to build knowledge and critical awareness of the events industry whilst developing a multitude of key technical, personal and business skills. Creativity and entrepreneurship are also encouraged and supported throughout the course.

Assessment Methods:

This course is assessed through a combination of individual and group work including essays, reports, presentations and seminars. Portfolios and reflective logs are also used as evidence of transferable skill development.

Progression:

On successful completion of the programme you will be equipped to forge successful careers in many different aspects of the Events sector e.g. Conference and Exhibition Organisation, Festival Production and Events Marketing and Management. Graduates may also wish to continue their studies to Honours degree level.

This programme provides a challenging and exciting combination of both the operational and management aspects of the events and conference sector, creating a wide range of career opportunities.
