Course Overview

Engineering is one of the best industries for making it to the top, with excellent career opportunities available for appropriately qualified and skilled personnel. The HNC in General Engineering aims to foster the technical and transferable skills required for employment within this specialised field. It is the product of close collaboration with key industry employers, many of whom support our students into employment. Graduates are now employed by major companies such as EDF Energy, Westinghouse (Springfields Fuels Ltd), BAE Systems, Airbus, NIC, GEC and Ford Motor Company as design, production, project or research and development engineers. Others have progressed to our BEng (Hons) Mechatronics.

Course Entry Requirements

A minimum of 120 UCAS points (excluding Functional Skills) or above in an appropriate discipline.

We also welcome applications from those with substantial work experience in engineering  in lieu of the minimum entry requirements.

2017 Entry Requirements

A new UCAS Tariff will be used for courses starting from September 2017, the new entry requirements are as follows;

A minimum of 48 UCAS points (previously 120) excluding functional skills in an appropriate discipline.

Applicants who are able to demonstrate relevant work/life skills or knowledge will also be considered on an individual basis.
