Important Note From Course Tutor

I have had feedback from the Marine Offices that some candidates for EDH may be falling short on sea service due to the way it is been recorded in the Discharge Books. The candidates are those on a continuous or running agreement (mainly in the ferry industry, dredgers, stand-by vessels etc.). In these cases the discharge book entry may show 12 months service but when leave arrangements are considered this may only equate to about 6 months onboard service. Delegates must prove 12 months valid, onboard sea service in a deck capacity (merchant going). For further clarification on entry requirements, please refer to Marine Guidance Note 97 (M) Annex 1.

Delegates Please Note

In order to comply with STCW Maritime and Coastguard Agency regulations, all delegates attending Merchant Navy Courses must provide a Seaman’s Discharge Book, Passport or Driving Licence when attending the centre. If you are currently not in possession of at least one of these items, please contact the college before booking your course. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to a delay in the issue of Certificates.
