This two year highly vocational and practical course is designed to help you acquire all the fundamental skills you need to start your career in the TV, film radio, or digital media industries.
Experienced tutors with a wealth of industry knowledge will help you to develop a range of skills in our exceptional facilities including audio and TV recording studios, editing suites with the very latest industry software, and a fully functioning radio station broadcasting our own shows. The course covers a broad range of subjects from factual programme production to video editing skills, which you will learn to a professional industry standard. You will also study historical and contemporary media to inform your own work. With all this at your disposal, you will have everything you need to create productions to the highest professional standards laying foundations for future success in the business.
The course maintains a strong industry focus, where live briefs and competitions are commonplace, together with a mature and professional working environment.

Assessment is based purely on coursework... there is no exam. The course consists of 19 subject units and the course is designed to allow students several chances to succeed in each unit. Work may be re-submitted at any stage during the course to improve grades. Grades attainable range through Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction* and hold the same value as C-A* at A-level. The qualification you will receive from this course is equivalent to three A-levels.
This course provides a great preparation for a career in the media industry and is designed to enable students to gain paid employment in TV, film, radio or digital media related work. Students may progress onto BA Honours Degree level courses in media, animation, multimedia and journalism. Students who go directly into employment will typically start in junior positions, or may apply for a Level 3 Creative Apprenticeship to gain further qualifications in the workplace. Whatever you decide, the qualification, skills and portfolio you gain through this course will help you achieve your goals.
You will be set practical assignments where you will be expected to develop an idea from scratch and take it through to final production. Whether you are interested in production, direction, editing, camera work or sound engineering, there's plenty of scope to explore the various career options which this course will open you up to. You will be expected to research, plan, explore, develop, produce and then evaluate your ideas and you will have the chance to show off your work at the exciting end of year exhibition.
