Foundation Degree in Autosport Engineering and Technology
H331
This Autosport Engineering and Technology programme allows access to a unique level of industry standard research and development equipment that is all located within the learning environment.
The course operates in close collaboration with specialist Autosport companies and manufacturers.
On programme the learner will take a journey from initial concept and design to research, development and testing, through implementation of 'real-world' Autosport applications. The optional modules within the programme allow the student to specifically choose their career path by the choice of specialist modules.
The Year 0 would be an ideal year of study to help students with a non vocational background or qualification to gain Motor Vehicle and Applied Maths/Science knowledge to allow them to progress onto a suitable Higher Education level.
The current financial climate has dictated that employment is very difficult within the Autosport industry for Apprentice Mechanics and so it is envisaged that a Year 0 should be developed that will incorporate Maths, Science and Electronics to assist the students to make the transition from FE to HE. This programme will be attached to the new FD/BEng programmes to allow the student to fully progress to Honours level.
The assessments consist of assignments and formal exams. The exams are usually sat at the end of each semester (February and June). Please see module content above for loading.
Students that successfully complete the Year 0 will progress on to one of our Foundation Degrees in either Autosport or Automotive Engineering and Technology. For those that complete the Foundation Degree to a required standard, students can continue their studies with our 1 year BEng Hons top-up course.
Alternatively you could apply to enter straight into industry. Past students have gone on to work for Race Teams such as Porsche.

Once you’ve decided to apply for a course, you’ll need to work out whether you satisfy our entry requirements (or will have done by the time your course starts). Providing you meet the criteria, you can then apply for your course. Full-time applications go through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), although foundation degree graduates progressing to a relevant top-up programme can (subject to certain criteria) apply to the College direct.
