Higher education (HE) courses are university programmes that you can study here at Blackpool and The Fylde College. Our courses include Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Diplomas (HNDs), Ordinary and Honours Degree programmes and Foundation Degrees. A number of post-graduate and professional qualifications are also available.
Many of our degrees are awarded by Lancaster University, so you can be sure that on completion, you will hold a degree from a top UK university. These courses are available in a wide range of subjects and can last anything from one to four years. Some even require you to spend a period of time on work placement, either in the UK or abroad. Higher education qualifications can help pave the way for a new career or enhanced prospects so make sure you check out our course guide to make the right choice for you.
Please Note: - All of our HE courses run subject to minimum class sizes.
To receive help with tuition fees you need to be studying a course that has a 50% or more intensity level of study of the full-time equivalent course (ask your tutor for guidance on this). The help you get will be paid directly to your institution in the form of a Fee Grant. How much help with tuition fees you are eligible for depends on the intensity of your course. The maximum amounts are shown below. How much you will actually receive depends on your household income.
| How intensive your Course is | Maximum fee grant | Maximum course grant | Maximum Total support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Equivalent to 50% to 59% of the full-time course. | £820 | £265 | £1085 |
| Equivalent to 60% to 74% of the full-time course. | £985 | £265 | £1250 |
| Equivalent to 75% or more of the full-time course. | £1230 | £265 | £1495 |
If your income is less than £16,845 for a single person or £18845 for a couple you are likely to qualify for the full support available. Please note: the threshold for people with dependent children is higher.
A course grant is available to part-time Higher Education students. This is a non-repayable grant of up to £265 towards travel, books and other course costs. The amount of money you receive depends on your household income.
