Adult and Community - Access to Higher Education

The Access to Higher Education (HE) course is a one-year, full-time, level 3 course - the same level as GCE A-levels. This course has been specially designed for people returning to study and is a proven and successful route to Higher Education, providing an ideal foundation for degree-level study. Successful students are awarded an Access to HE Diploma which can be used to apply for HE courses either here or at other institutions. We offer:

  • a supportive learning environment with friendly tutors and like-minded students.
  • a range of subjects, from Creative Writing to Criminology.
  • 15 hours’ class-based study a week, making it possible to work at the same time.
  • help with childcare*
  • free tuition to those on certain benefits or if this is your first full-time level 3 course and you’re 25 or under.
  • the chance for successful learners to progress onto one of our exciting range of degree courses.
  • a route to a better-paid and more fulfilling career.
  • Those on full-time courses may qualify for for the Adult Learning Grant if you are not receiving out of work benefits, this is your first course of study at Level 3 and your income is less than £19,513 for a single student or £30810 if you have a partner.
