Junior Chefs Academy

Blackpool and the Fylde College is one of only a few selected colleges in the country able to offer this programme. It is an exciting course for young aspiring chefs aged from 12 – 16 who are not ready to join our full time courses.

A 10 week course will be held each term during the 2009/10 academic year after school from 17:00 – 20:00 every Thursday. Course dates are from 1st October 2009, 14th Jan 2010 and 22nd April 2010. Junior chefs will be preparing and cooking a range of interesting dishes under the supervision of an experienced chef lecturer. All sessions will be held in a professional kitchen at the college where high standards of Hygiene and Health and Safety are required.

Ingredients and uniform are provided and all food prepared can be taken home. A small contribution towards the cost of the food will be required each week.

The course is based on enjoyment, handling food, basic knife skills and learning to work in a professional kitchen with good hygienic standards.
