The job of Accountancy – earning money by counting money – is crucial in every line of business. From the smallest odd job, one-man-band to the biggest multinational corporation, properly prepared accounts are a necessary and legally required fact of life.

As a trainee accountant studying for your AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, you’ll learn how to keep and balance books, prepare ledger balances, oversee credit and stock control systems, carry out audits and interpret statistics.

Good organisational skills are an essential asset for every business, large and small. So if you’re the one who does all the planning and ringing round to arrange nights out with your mates, then you could well have what it takes to make a career of Business Administration.
As an administration assistant, clerical assistant, junior secretary or office clerk, you’ll get to grips with the day-to-day running of your employer’s office systems while studying at college towards an NVQ Level 2 and Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication.
It’s an exciting and varied career with plenty of opportunity to progress and specialise after your Apprenticeship. Enthusiastic and ambitious administrators can move up the ladder quickly, and in a comparatively short time you could you could find yourself in a supervisory or management role.
Alternatively, you might want to improve your prospects by adding to your qualifications with our Foundation Degree in Management or Executive Certificate/Diploma in Management Studies.
