Taster Sessions and Interviews

This is your one-stop-shop for deciding on your choices and pursuing your application to Blackpool and The Fylde College. Our combination of ‘taster’ and ‘interview’ are absolutely the best way to give yourself confidence that you have made the right choices and checked them out. If you can't find a suitable date keep checking for later dates

Taster Sessions

If you are interested in more than one course, possibly in different areas this is fine. You will have the opportunity to see as many areas as you like. Please try and decide on your first choice for now and let the team know what else you would like to see when you visit us; they’ll be happy to help. This screen also accepts multiple enquiries; you just need to enter your details again each time.

Tasters are your chance to see what your course feels like. They will be active, hands on experiences designed to be fun and give you a real indication of what your time with us will be like. You’ll also see where you will actually be sitting, working, eating and making friends; even where the bus stops or where to leave your bike!

Interviews

Interviews are your chance to tell us about yourself and your education so far. They’re not a grilling like ‘Dragon’s Den’ but we will ask questions that check you’ve thought about the course and where you want it to take you.

Where tasters check that you like the experience and feel of the course interviews check that it’s what you understand and need for your future. As you think about your future education and career the Connexions Jobs4U website is a great place to shop around for ideas

At interview we also check what grades you have, or are expecting to get, in your exams. We’ll make it clear what you need for our different levels of course and make you a formal conditional offer of a place. The conditions of the offer will be the appropriate grades in the appropriate subjects but we also have 30-minute assessments for many courses that we ask you take before the summer. For performing arts and music you will be auditioning at interview, for art and design courses you will need to bring a portfolio of your work to your interview.
