Students Take On Planter Challenge

Construction students and painting and decorating students joined forces to take part in a special Skills Challenge event; ‘The Great Planter Challenge’ as part of National Colleges Week organised by the Association Of Colleges (AOC)

The students were set a challenge of making eight wooden planter boxes over a four hour period, with one group designing and making the boxes before another group painted and finished them.

Thanks to a donation of compost and plants from Morrisons Supermarket at Cleveleys and with help from pupils at St Bernadettes Primary School in Bispham, the boxes will be filled with plants and donated to Brian House Hospice and other local children's charities.

Tutor Steve Pye said: “All the students worked really hard on the boxes and it was a real challenge for them to try to do it in such a short space of time, but they coped with it brilliantly.”

Special thanks go to Jane Halliday from Morrisons for organising the compost and plants.
