BBC News visits Fleetwood Offshore Survival Centre

The Fleetwood Offshore Survival Centre at Blackpool and The Fylde College played a starring role in national news coverage following the ditching of a helicopter in the North Sea. A BBC news crew visited the Centre to learn more about the survival techniques all offshore workers are taught.

Reporter Chris Buckler joined trainers from the College to take part in a helicopter escape exercise, and later interviewed Head of Fleetwood Nautical Campus and master mariner, John Matthews, for the main BBC TV 6pm and 10pm news programmes, and Radio 5-Live, on 19 February 2009.
