‘Have A Go’ at College Open Day

Blackpool and The Fylde College is giving people the chance to ‘Have a Go in Colleges Week’ at its Open Day on Saturday 1st October.

The event is designed to showcase the opportunities offered by the College to the communities it serves and to open students’ minds to the huge variety of careers possibilities their futures hold.

As well as finding out what courses are available, looking round the facilities and meeting current students and tutors, anyone attending the Open Day will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience of a range of skills at the special ‘Have a Go’ event. The event is part of a major nationwide drive to create one million opportunities for young people to try a bite-sized taster of a new skill, trade or profession in the run up to World Skills London 2011, the world’s largest international skills competition.

Crime Scene Investigation, You’re Hired, Place Your Bets, Oscar Hair, Under the Sea, Take a Flight and Tools of the Trade are just some of the exciting activities lined up for prospective students.

“This event provides a great opportunity to welcome people to the College , enabling them to try their hands at new skills and see for themselves what they can achieve in their careers. It’s a great way of igniting a passion to learn, as well as helping us connect with our local community.”
