Creative Arts - Local Inspiration

You’ll never be short of inspiration.

Anyone studying the arts needs to be creatively stimulated. There’s no better place than Blackpool.

Everywhere you go, be it a pub, club or simply walking along our spectacular beach, you’ll find inspiration. Our incredible nightlife would have Hogarth himself reaching for a brush while the Art Deco splendour of the Palatine Building and the fine wrought iron work on all our three piers couldn’t fail to impress anyone with an eye for beauty.

If colour and movement stir you as they did the Fauves, simply spend an hour or two at the Pleasure Beach. If you’re looking for something more contemporary, visit the sculpture park along the promenade.

Performing Arts students have plenty to inspire them too. There’s The Grand Theatre which is one of the few original Victorian theatres still in existence and the fabulous Winter Gardens, which plays host to all manner of entertainment from touring Russian ballet companies and contemporary dance ensembles, to opera and cutting edge drama.

Whilst studying at The School of Arts you can look forward to a broad grounding in the arts generally. If you are looking for more inspiration though, we do offer some truly amazing trips throughout the years. Previous destinations have included Barcelona, Amsterdam and New York!

Our enrichment programme lets you try a range of interesting and enjoyable activities – some sporty, some educational – enabling you to make new friends and develop on a personal level. Where possible, the activities link into your programme of study to make for a more fulfilling learning experience. Activities range from computing and salsa to the film club and choir.

You’ll find that Blackpool is brash, modern, old, peaceful, loud, cheeky, historic, beautiful, odd, real, fake, and above all else, exciting.
