You will examine key individuals and issues at different periods. Topics include German History from 1900-1945, Italy and Spain in the 20th Century, Britain after 1945 and A Comparative Study of Imperial and Soviet Russia.
You will sit 2 examinations at AS and 2 examinations at A-level.
A history qualification provides a good basis for degree-level study in a wide range of subjects, with careers in law, management and journalism all possible. The abilities to critically evaluate material and to communicate effectively, both of which you will develop during the course, are highly valued by employers. You could also progress to one of our degree programmes in History and Heritage, qualifications that are awarded by one of the UK’s top universities, Lancaster.
Students are taught by experienced and highly-qualified lecturers. The extensive use of documentary and video material feeds lively group discussions, with relevant trips and guest speakers also a feature of this course. The pass rates are very good.
