Our ESOL course is designed for second language speakers (EU and non EU) looking to stay and make a life for themselves here in the UK. The programme teaches English language skills alongside citizenship skills and leads to a qualification that is recognised by the Home Office, colleges and employers. Learners who successfully complete the course will be able to apply for a VISA extension or UK citizenship. The qualification could also be used to apply for another college course or a job.
We offer two ESOL programmes, one for those aged 16-19 and another one for adults. Both programmes lead to a nationally-recognised Skills for Life qualification at either Entry Level or Level 1. Those studying on the 16-19 programme however will also work towards separate qualifications in Employability, Numeracy and Problem-solving.
Our Adult programme is based at our University Centre in Blackpool while those on the 16-19 programme will be based at our Bispham Campus.
We run full-time and part-time courses. The full-time course is 13.5 hours per week for 35 weeks from September till June. The part-time course runs for 31 weeks from September to May. Part-time learners can either study 2 afternoons a week or 1 evening a week.
The next round of ESOL courses starts in September. You’ll have an initial assessment first, when we determine what level your language is at and place you in an appropriate class. Keep checking this page for exact dates and times.
In the first instance, you should contact Janet Asiliskender who will make a note of your details and invite you to an information day in August.
