Courses

Fantastic resources

As a science student you can enjoy great resources supported by a team of experienced support technicians, four well-equipped teaching laboratories and an amazing ecophysiology laboratory.

Enthusiastic tutors

For many of our tutors, science is a way of life. Head of Science Jean Wilson was recently awarded an MBE for services to biology and has been an active member of the Institute of Biology’s North West Committee for over 15 years. The science staff are also involved as external examiners and moderators, as well as reviewers of books and teaching aids.

Student Viewpoint

Aasia Ali
Aasia, a former pupil of Bispham High School, is 18 and studying A-levels alongside the Forensic Science course.
“I chose to study Forensics because I’ve always been interested in science and how it’s used to solve crimes. It’s not as glamorous as some of the TV shows make out; in fact, it’s certainly not for the squeamish. The work can be quite painstaking and exacting, like looking for trace evidence and reading a crime scene, but we get a lot of support from our lecturers. Forensic science is a very important part of criminal investigation and I find it fascinating. My ambition is to work in America as a forensic chemical analyst.”
Next step: A degree in Forensic Science at UCLAN.
